With a massive vote, the Flor de Caña Rum distillery was chosen as The Ultimate Sustainable Rum Distillery. There were 15 distilleries that participated in the contest, each equally deserving of the award for their efforts to minimize the impact of their practices on the environment, minimizing the footprint that the process of distilling rum and other spirits leaves on the planet.
The contest was a “People’s Choice” in which rum lovers from around the world voted to choose the distillery that should be recognized as the most sustainable. In order to win the award, several of them developed important advertising campaigns for their followers to enter The Ultimate Awards website and cast their vote.
Flor de Caña was able to garner 2274 votes, a milestone in the history of The Ultimate Awards. The process lasted two weeks and ended this Monday, August 28th. The Ultimate Awards team was in charge of the final tally and totalization of the numbers, resulting in Flor de Caña distillery as the undisputed winner.
The most voted competition
Although Flor de Caña won the most votes, the rest of the participating distilleries also put up a tough fight to take home the prize. Two Drifters distillery took second place with 292 votes, followed by Licores de Guatemala with 205 votes.
This is the most voted competition in the history of The Ultimate Awards, awards that for more than a year have been honoring different participants in the world of rum and spirits.
This is not the first time Flor de Caña has taken home an award; its brand ambassador Mauricio Solórzano was previously recognized as the Best Brand Ambassador in 2022 and its rum was also recognized as one of the most sustainable.
The awards
The winners of the competition will be recognized at the Los Angeles Rum Fest to be held on September 8 this year at The Majestic Ballroom DTLA. They will also be interviewed and published in The Rum Lab.
